What AI Den does

AI Den is a writing and research workspace. A signed-in user gives it a piece of work in plain language, and it returns a draft for that person to review, edit, and use. It is used to:

  • draft and revise written material such as memos, reports, proposals, presentations, and spreadsheets
  • summarize long documents and email threads into something short enough to act on
  • research a topic and gather sources for a written summary
  • prepare replies to email, and set up calendar events, for the user to review before anything is sent or saved

Everything it produces is a draft. A person reviews the result and decides what to do with it.

Why it asks for access to your Google account

Connecting a Google account is optional. AI Den works without one; connecting it lets the application work with material you already have, instead of you copying it in by hand. Each permission is requested for one purpose:

  • Gmail. To read a message or thread you point it at, so it can summarize it or draft a reply in your own words. Drafts are saved to your mailbox for you to check, and a message is only sent after you approve it.
  • Google Drive, read only. To open a document you choose and use it as source material for the work you asked for. It does not create, change, or delete anything in your Drive.
  • Google Calendar. To check your availability when you ask a scheduling question, and to add or update an event when you ask for one.

Your Google data is not used to train machine learning models, not sold, and not used for advertising. You can disconnect at any time, from the application or from your Google account settings. The full detail, including the Limited Use disclosure, is in the Privacy Policy.
